Report of the Working Group on Goldstone Bosons
نویسنده
چکیده
An overview is presented of the talks in the working group on Goldstone Bosons. Topics touched on are CP-violation in the Kaon system, rare Kaon decays, ππscattering, φ-meson decays, scalar mesons, form-factors and polarizabilities, ηdecays, chiral symmetry breaking, connections with QCD at short-distances and effective theories for electroweak physics. Strongly Coupled Electroweak Symmetry Breaking: Implications of Models
We discuss the phenomenology of models of dynamical electroweak symmetry breaking which attempt to generate the observed fermion mass spectrum. After briefly describing the variety of and constraints on proposed models, we concentrate on the signatures of colored pseudo-Nambu-Goldstone bosons and resonances at existing and proposed colliders. These particles provide a possibly unique signature:...
متن کاملRemarks on nonrelativistic Goldstone bosons
We discuss excitations in nonrelativistic field theories with spontaneous breaking of a continuous global symmetry. It is known that in such systems there are two types of Goldstone bosons (Type A and Type B) whose dispersion law is generically linear or quadratic, respectively. We show that Type B Goldstone bosons may have gapped partners which we call almost-Goldstone bosons. With some nondeg...
متن کاملGoldstone Bosons in the Appelquist-Terning ETC Model
It is demonstrated that the extended technicolor model proposed recently by Appelquist and Terning has pair of potentially light U(1) Goldstone bosons coupling to ordinary matter with strength 2mf Fπ , where mf is the mass of the fermion and Fπ ≈ 125GeV. These Goldstone bosons could get a mass if the spontaneously broken U(1) symmetries are also explicitly broken, by physics beyond that specifi...
متن کاملA Colored Zoo of Quasi-particles and Light Glueballs
Here I present a compendium of the effective Lagrangians for three and two flavors QCD describing the relevant color superconductive light degrees of freedom and their electroweak interactions. However I will not consider some more recent developments involving new phases which are presented by other participants in this conference. Possible phenomenological applications include the description...
متن کاملChiral excitations of baryons with charm
The ground states of charmed baryons form an antitriplet and sextet representations of the SU(3) group. The s-wave interaction of the latter with the octet of Goldstone bosons is predicted by the chiral properties of QCD. The Clebsch-Gordon coefficients that describe the relative interaction strength of the various channels reflect the SU(3) multiplet structure of the hadron the Goldstone boson...
